Dorothy ‘Pinkey’ Elstad

Dorothy "Pinkey" L. Elstad, 85, Bowbells, died Monday, May 20, 2013, in a Minot hospital.

Dorothy Lorraine Cron was born Dec. 6, 1927, a daughter of Leo and Sarah (Swenson) Cron, in Bowbells. She was raised and educated in Bowbells, graduating from Bowbells High School in 1946.

On Aug. 18, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Elstad in Bowbells. They made their home in Bowbells, where they raised their four children. Dorothy worked at various jobs in Bowbells, including the grocery store in Bowbells, Burke County Auditors office, and as a housekeeper. Robert passed away following 54 years of marriage on Dec. 27, 2000. Following his death, she remained in Bowbells until September 2012, when she entered the Kenmare hospital.

She was a 50-plus-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, both of Bowbells. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, and embroidery. She enjoyed visiting and having a cup of coffee with family, friends and neighbors.

She is survived by: four children, Roberta Drew, Bowbells, David (Robin) Elstad, Lincoln, Minn., LuAnn (Bill) Fay, Center, and Bruce (companion Noreen Schuette) Elstad, Kimball, Minn.; numerous stepgrandchildren: one brother, Ernest Cron, Kenmare; a sister, Shirley Gill, Burly, Idaho; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Douglas Drew; brothers, Douglas and Robert; and sisters, Doris and Hazel.

Memorial service: Friday, May 24, 2013, at 2 p.m., Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bowbells.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, people may sign a guest register on Friday, one hour prior to the service, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bowbells.

Burial: Bowbells Community Cemetery, Bowbells.
