Robert "Bob" James Kasper, 80, of Austin, Texas, passed from this life on April 29, 2013, surrounded by family. Services took place at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway, Texas.
Bob was born Sept. 28, 1932, in Turtle Lake, to Joe and Loretta Kasper. He had three brothers, Joe, Richard and Donald Kasper, and three sisters, Delphine Geyer, Helen Halligan and Loretta Heil. After graduating from Butte High School, he joined the Air Force, serving our country for 20 years which included the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired in 1972 with the rank of major. During his service to our country he received a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska and his MBA from Texas A&M University. He then worked for the University of Texas Data Processing Center for the next 25 years, retiring on Jan. 31, 1998.
He married Marlene Hinze on April 11, 1955, in Wharton, Texas.
Survivors include: Marlene, his wife of 58 years; daughter, Mara and husband, Marcus Winkler, of Houston; daughter, Renee and husband, John Picanso, of Washington, D.C.; son, Robert and wife, Judy Kasper, of Trent, Texas; son, Alan Kasper, of Tyler, Texas; and daughter, Paula and husband, Tim Nemec, of Taylor, Texas; nine grandchildren: Blake Kasper, Craig Winkler, Chris and wife Trish Liles, Amber and husband Tim Wright, Faith, Anna, Joseph, Grace, and John Paul Nemec. Bob also had three great-grandchildren: Sophia and Jackson Kasper, and Greyson Liles.
