Funeral Mass for Dwile Zeren, 72, formerly of New England and Minot, will be Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 11 a.m., in St. Mary's Catholic Church, New England, with Father Biju Chitteth celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in New England.

Visitation will be today, May 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Visitation will continue today from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the rosary and vigil service taking place today at 7 p.m.

Dwile L. Zeren died May 10 at Our Home Your Home in Henning, Minn.

Dwile L. Zeren was born March 21, 1941, in New England, the son of Lloyd and Margaret (Olson) Zeren. He was raised and educated in New England, graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1959.

Dwile served in the Army including in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge on Oct. 12, 1967, he returned to North Dakota. He worked various jobs until 2002, when due to health conditions, he entered a nursing home.

He had a passion for all sports which he excelled in at St. Mary's. He was a die-hard fan of the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. Dwile loved his country and was a true patriot. He served as commander of American Legion Post No. 23 in Minot and was very involved with Minot's American Legion baseball program.

He is survived by: his sister, DeEtta Dorval, Dickinson; three nephews, Steve Dorval, New England, Mike Dorval, Maple Grove, Minn., Dan (Tracy) Dorval, Otsego, Minn.; great-nieces, Isabella and Alaina Dorval, Otsego, Minn.; one uncle, Leo Zeren; one aunt, Lorraine Utter; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Margaret (Olson) Zeren; two brothers, Ronald and Donald Zeren; maternal grandparents, Andrew and Ingeborg (Strand) Olson; paternal grandparents, Philip and Mary (Pawlitschek) Zeren; and numerous aunts and uncles.
