TIOGA Kris Sateren, 46, Rapid City, S.D., formerly of Tioga, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, from injuries received in a two-vehicle accident near Rapid City.
Kristian Lyle Sateren was born Dec. 11, 1966, in Tioga, a son of Edwin and Rosemary (Austin) Sateren. He was raised in Tioga and graduated from Tioga High School in 1985. He was a Private First Class and was stationed in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army from September of 1985 until June of 1988.
Following his military service, he attended Mitchell (S.D.) Technical Institute and graduated at the top of his class with a degree in welding. He worked at Trail King in Mitchell and also other various jobs. He most recently worked for the Fort Meade Veterans Administration in South Dakota.
Kris enjoyed sports, collecting hats, working with leather, building models and working crossword puzzles.
Family: son, Nicholas Smith, of Mitchell, S.D.; mother, Rosemary (Don) Sundhagen, Tioga; sister, Cindy Sateren, of Gregory, S.D.; stepbrothers, Scott (Stacey) Sundhagen, Tioga, Tim (Bridgette) Sundhagen, Tioga; stepsisters, Karla Sundhagen, Wildrose, and Monica Sundhagen, Tioga; aunts, Carolyn Gilseth, Mohall; Helen Payne, Boise, Idaho; and Marian Sateren, Fargo; uncles, Charles (Diane) Austin, Oakville, Calif.; and Jeffrey Austin, Mohall; and numerous cousins and stepnieces and stepnephews.
Kris was preceded in death by his father, Edwin; all of his grandparents; aunt, Cathleen Bradley; and uncles, Rodney Gilseth and Bernard Sateren.
Funeral: Monday, May 13, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Tioga Assembly of God Church, Tioga.
Burial: Skabo Lutheran Cemetery, rural Alamo.
Visitation: Monday, two hours prior to the service, at the church in Tioga. (Brose Funeral Home, Mohall)
