JAMESTOWN (AP) - A project to grow lettuce in a large greenhouse near Jamestown is seeking more than $1 million in backing from local agencies including the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. and the South Central Dakota Regional Council.
The Jamestown Sun reports that Endless Harvest hopes to grow lettuce for markets around the upper Midwest. The first phase of construction would include a 2.7-acre greenhouse, along with an administration area and classrooms for teaching about greenhouse operations.
The first phase would cost about $11 million. Some funds already have been raised through a loan and private investor. Possible future phases would be funded through operation profits.
