William W. ‘Woody’ Hayes

William W. "Woody" Hayes, 86, of Middletown, Ohio, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at West Chester Hospital in West Chester, Ohio.

He was born in Brodhead, Ky., on Dec. 20, 1926, to parents Albert and Della (Laswell) Hayes. Woody worked in shipping at Armco Steel Corp. for 40 years. He served his country in the Army during World War II.

He is survived by: his sons, Doug (Debbie) Hayes and Steve Hayes; stepdaughter, Debbie (Ron) Morris Sizemore; sister, Hope Jones; grandchildren, Doug (Rachel) Hayes, Jeff Hayes, Mathew (Heidi) Weise, Sarah Hayes and Elisha Hayes, Leanne (Herb) Hood and Heather Helmuth; great-grandchildren, Haleigh, Tristan, Riley, Anderson, Alex, Mia, Samantha, Isaac, Carroll, Aidan and Kiaya; and a very special friend, Teresa Jones.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Marie Hayes; son, Mark Hayes; parents; brothers, Owen and Theo Hayes; sisters, Louella Hayes and Sue Hamm; and friend, Paul Fox.

Funeral Service: Will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 3023 N. Union Rd., Franklin, Ohio, with the Reverend Dr. Roger Green officiating.

Visitation: Will be Monday, April 22, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, Ohio.

Interment: Will be at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Ohio, with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.

Memorial donations: May be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Cincinnati, 1080 Nimitzview Drive, #208, Cincinnati, OH 45230 , or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, SW Ohio and N. Kentucky Chapter, 4201 Victory Pkwy., Room 305, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
