Lyne Enget is stepping down as the Stanley-Powers Lake football coach, citing the desire to have "a fresh set of eyes" on the program.
Enget compiled a 139-54 record in 19 seasons at S-PL and won state championships in 1999, 2002 and 2011. The Blue Jays finished 11-1 last season.
"It's something I've been contemplating the last few years," the 48-year-old said. "My youngest (son Kale) is graduating. Any time you're in a program, it's always good having a fresh face to give new passion to the program."
Enget, who will continue to serve as athletic director and teach at Stanley, expects this fall to be a challenge.
"When next August starts rolling around, the itch will start up pretty bad," he said. "That itch will be there the first time the pads crunch."
As athletic director, Enget can still impact the football team by choosing his own replacement. He said he'd be "very comfortable" giving the job to one of his assistants, but he'll wait until more teaching and coaching applications arrive before making a decision.
