Bismarck's Evan Giesler scored the eventual game-winning goal at two minutes, 30 seconds of the third period as the Bobcats defeated the Minot Minotauros 2-1 in the final game of the regular season Saturday at Maysa Arena.
A night after allowing eight goals to rival Bismarck in a lopsided loss, the Tauros (26-30-4) registered the first goal of the game Saturday. Forward Mason Morelli talled Minot's lone goal of the contest at 11:54 of the first period.
The lead was short-lived as the Bobcats tied the game less than two minutes later when Patrick Moore beat Tauros goaltender Ryan Ruck.
After a scoreless second period, Giesler's power-play goal early in the third proved the difference maker for Bismarck. The Bobcats managed just seven shots on net in the third period, but outshot the Tauros 29-27 for the game.
The teams combined for 22 penalties totaling 76 minutes. Bismarck finished 1-of-9 on the power play, while the Tauros came up empty on their seven opportunities.
The Tauros travel to Austin (Minn.) on April 12 for game one of the Central Division semifinals. The Bobcats host Brookings (S.D.) in their semifinal series.
