Marian Nelson, 77, Minot, formerly of Velva, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, in a Minot hospital.
Marian Stenvold was born Jan. 5, 1936, a daughter of Lars and Christine (Sanderson) Stenvold, north of Velva. She was raised and educated in the Velva area.
Marian was once married to Marlin Nelson. Marian began working for the Minot Air Force Base in the housekeeping departments, retiring after 35-plus years of service in 2009. After retirement Marian volunteered at Trinity Nursing Home in the physical therapy department and beauty shop. She truly enjoyed volunteering and making people laugh.
Marian enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an avid bingo player, and loved going out to eat and visiting with friends. Marian loved her special little canine friend, Lily. Marian was a wonderful sister, aunt and friend who touched many lives.
Marian is survived by: sisters, June (Don) Strietz, Laura Liebelt, and Marlys Brockell; sister-in-law, Delores Stenvold; two special angels; Judy Haman and Shirley Anderson; along with several nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Lars and Christine; brothers, Joe, Arnold, Lars and Lloyd; sisters Selma and Mabel; brothers-in-law, Clarence Buethe, Ray Liebelt, Vern Coffee: sisters-in-law, Marie Stenvold, Marge Stenvold, and Maxine Stenvold; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service: Monday, April 1, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the West Minot Church of God, Minot.
Burial: Will take place at a later date in the spring at the Velva Community Cemetery, Velva.
Visitation: Saturday, March 30, from 1 to 5 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
