The Ward County Courthouse in Minot did not open until noon on Monday.
The delay in opening, which may have been a first for the courthouse, was to allow more time for courthouse employees to make it to work in the bad weather, according to Capt. Bob Barnard of the Ward County Sheriff's Office.
Barnard reported that west of town was particularly bad. Monday morning and early afternoon saw harsh winds and blowing snow. Those with court appearances scheduled for early in the day were forced to reschedule for a later date.
