I am not against Minot building an event center. I am, however, against them building it in the fairgrounds. Some barns and the Historical Society would have to be destroyed and/or removed. I believe there is a place in this world for progress and our heritage. I am praying that they will find another place to build.
The Historical Society has been on the fairgrounds for years. I would wish the board would protect their right to exist. Let the society move in their little red schoolhouse to replace the one they lost. Through all the controversy, the man who donated the school will never get to see it there. He recently passed away.
I, for one, would like to see the school and am sure all of the volunteers who have worked so hard to restore our history would too. I would hope that the people in charge would remind themselves what the word FAIR means. I looked it up in the dictionary.
