George Lauinger Jr., 77, Bismarck, and formerly of Karlsruhe and Garrison, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.
George was born July 17, 1935, the son of George and Annastasia (Miltenberger) Lauinger, on the family farm in McHenry County. He was raised and educated in Karlsruhe and graduated from Karlsruhe High School in 1953. Following his graduation, he stayed home and helped with the operation of the family farm.
George married Irene E. Boechler on Oct. 29, 1956, in Karlsruhe. They made their home on the Lauinger family farm for about six years before moving to the Boechler farm, located in McHenry County, in 1964. They farmed there until 1998, when they retired and moved to Garrison.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Karlsruhe. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, attending auction sales and visiting with family and friends.
Surviving family includes: wife of 56 years, Irene, Bismarck; brother, Gerald (Carol) Lauinger, Washington; half brothers, Anton (Ida) Lauinger, Minot, Frank Lauinger, Washington, and John Miltenberger, Mesa, Ariz.; half sister, Regina Merck, Minot; and several nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Dorothy Boehm; half sister, Katherine Schiele; and half brother, Paul Lauinger.
A private family graveside service will take place at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Karlsruhe.
