Nolan Grubb

Nolan Layne Grubb, 61, of Huntington, W.Va., formerly of Powers Lake and Minot, passed away Jan. 30, 2013, due to complications from a recent car accident. The memorial service was Feb. 5 at Christ Temple Church, Huntington, W. Va., and was officiated by Pastor Chuck Lawrence.

Nolan was born March 23, 1951, in Costa Mesa, Calif., and raised in Powers Lake and Minot. He was the son of Lavon Grubb, Minot, and the late Normen E. Grubb.

Nolan worked as an investment and financial planner in his own Business Professional Group. Nolan attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., and served in the Persian Gulf in the Navy. Nolan's time spent living and working on Kibbutz Gesher in Israel was a very meaningful and happy part of his life. He was twice elected to and served on the Huntington City Council, served on Huntington Planning Commission, a Salvation Army Board, and KYOVA Regional Planning Commission. He was a member of Christ Temple Church in Huntington, where he was devoted to his Torah class, a dedicated member of Gideon's International and was a member of the Emmaus Walk group of Ashland, Ky.

He had a passion for learning, reading, writing, poetry and music. Nolan's love for his family and friends was only surpassed by his love of the truth of God.

He is survived by: his mother, Lavon Grubb, Minot; and his children, David Nelson Grubb and Anne Morton Yon, and her husband, Daniele Yon, of Huntington, W. Va., and their two daughters, Elia and Luciana; his sisters, Donelda Grubb, Ankara, Turkey, Zona Grubb, Minot, and and Natalie Cheek, and her husband, Kris, of Boulder, Colo.; his brother, Stanton Grubb, and his wife, Diane, of Des Moines, Iowa; and loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Malinda Warnock Grubb, of Huntington.
