County updates and corrections
There were no actual budgets approved at Tuesday's County Commission meeting, according to Chairman Jack Nybakken. There were pre-budget items discussed extensively, including salaries and expected changes within departments, at Tuesday's meeting but nothing was finalized.
The budget process doesn't begin until June or July, said Devra Smestad, Auditor and Treasurer for Ward County. Smestad creates a preliminary budget for September and then the next year's budget will be finalized in October.
The upcoming special meeting regarding changes to the county courthouse and jail has been changed from Feb. 14 to Feb. 21.
