Milo Dihle

Milo J. Dihle, 93, of Crosby, and formerly of Columbus, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Crosby.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at 2 p.m., in Faith Lutheran Church in Columbus, with Pastor Morris Kirchhof officiating. Burial will follow at Norde St. Olaf Cemetery in Larson. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Stakston-Martin Funeral Home in Crosby, and also Thursday, one hour before the service, at the church.

Milo was born July 1, 1919, near Larson, the son of Erick and Emma (Ronholdt) Dihle. He attended country school in Harmonious Township. He was confirmed at South St. Olaf Church in Norwegian by Rev. Buckneberg.

In 1946, Milo married Alice Bratlien from Noonan at Zion Lutheran Church. They lived south of Larson until moving to Keller Township to their farm near Larson. They moved to the Northern Lights Villa in Crosby in July 2009. Milo and Alice were blessed with three children Joel, Debbie and Becky. They have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Milo loved farming and farmed all his life. He raised wheat, barley, durum and flax. He also had cattle. He used a team of horses in his early years of farming but in 1954, he sold the last of the horses he had used for hauling hay. After selling the horses it was tractors only usually red ones.

Milo served on the Keller Township Board for several years. He also served on the church board for several terms. He enjoyed traveling and going to visit his children. He recently traveled to Illinois to attend his granddaughter Sarah's wedding.

Milo was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Alvin Dihle and Arthur Dihle; and his sister, Ethel Lee.

He is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Alice, of Crosby; son, Joel (Laurie) Dihle, of Blandinsville, Ill.; daughters, Debbie (Ken) Kirchoffner, of Kingston, Wash., and Becky (Al) Bowen, of Winder, Ga.; his grandchildren, Preston (Sylvia) Dihle and their daughter, Emma, of Bad Kissengen, Germany, Tyler (Emily) Dihle, of Carterville, Ill., Sarah Juline (Charles) Tull, of Commerce, Texas, Aimee Dihle, of Gretna, Va., Rachel Dihle, of Charlottesville, Va., Derek Bowen and Dana Bowen, both of Winder, Ga.

Stakston-Martin Funeral Home of Crosby is in charge of arrangements.
