Wayne Johnson, 78, Minot, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Wayne Gordon Johnson was born Dec. 6, 1934, the son of Winfred and Olga (Opdahl) Johnson, in Westhope. He was raised and educated in Newburg, graduating from Newburg High School in 1954.
Wayne was drafted into the U.S. Army on June 10, 1954, and was honorably discharged on May 29, 1956.
Wayne married Lorayne Skinn in 1968 in Bottineau. They made their home in rural Newburg, where he worked for Oil Field Services for several years. He later worked for Amerada Hess Corporation as a lease operator until retiring in 1994. Lorayne passed away Dec. 5, 1990.
He was a former member of Dovre Lutheran Church in Newburg and the Russell American Legion.
Surviving family includes: brothers, Glen Johnson and Merton (Linda) Johnson, both of Minot; sisters, Violet (Donnie) Seiffert, Westhope, and Judy Ballantyne, Minot; sister-in-law, Frances Johnson, Downey, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wayne was preceded in death by: his wife, Lorayne; parents; and brother, Clarence.
Funeral: Monday, Jan. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Dovre Lutheran Cemetery, Newburg, in the spring of 2013.
Visitation: Today, Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
