Romona Augusta Thompson, 90, of Crosby, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Center in Crosby.
Graveside services will be Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m., at Crosby City Cemetery in Crosby with Diane Haugland officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Stakston-Martin Funeral Home in Crosby.
Romona Augusta Mantei was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Fortuna, the daughter of Rudolf and Mabel Florence (Russell) Mantei. She was raised and educated in Fortuna, graduating from Fortuna High School.
Romona married Ervin Gordon Alberts on June 5, 1941, in Plentywood, Mont., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1984. Romona married Martin Archie Thompson in 1987 in Crosby and he preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 1994.
Romona worked at J.C. Penney in Bellevue, Wash., until moving back to North Dakota, where she worked for J.C. Penney in Crosby. She later worked at Crosby Auto Supply until she retired.
Romona enjoyed doll collecting and at one point had more than 1,000 dolls. She also enjoyed ceramics, crafts and fishing.
Romona was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughters, Arlette JoAnne Porter and Sandra Lynn Alberts; and sister, Lorna Ilene Torgerson.
She is survived by: two sons, Ervin Gordon Alberts Jr. and wife Linda of Nagalia, Calif., and Russell Arthur Alberts and wife Gertrud of Pettigrew, Ark.; two sisters, Rodella Knutson (twin sister) of Bellevue, and Delores Francine Wehrman and husband Clarence of Williston; two brothers, Rudolf Herman Mantei and wife Juanita of Snohomish, Wash., and Leonard Karl Mantei of Washington; and eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Stakston-Martin Funeral Home of Crosby is in charge of arrangements.
