Catherine M. Deeter, daughter of Charles and Francis Duchscher, was born in Rugby on Sept. 28, 1927. She passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, in Tucson, Ariz.
Catherine Deeter grew up on the Duchscher family farm with 14 siblings southeast of Rugby. Catherine, a classic beauty, was the first North Dakota Dairy Princess. She married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth, and they settled on the Deeter farm north of Rugby, eventually retiring in Tucson. Catherine and Ken had six wonderful children.
Catherine is survived by: her loving husband of 65 years, Kenneth; her six children, Dillys Bach (Bill), of Coleharbor, Colleen Thompson (Mark), of St. Paul, Minn., Conrad Deeter (Deb), of Minneapolis, Minn., Terry Deeter (Marilyn), of Bismarck, Jenise Deeter, of San Diego, Calif., and Christopher Deeter, (April) of Tucson; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Caroline Van Rayden, Vernice (Bill) Knutson, Anna Mae (Russel) Bezanson, and brother, John (Bernie) Duchscher.
Mass of Christian burial was held Thursday, Jan. 24, at Santa Catalina Catholic Church in Tucson.
