Gary D. Mickelsen, 63, Kenmare, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, in a Minot nursing home.
Gary Dean Mickelsen was born May 5, 1949, in Kenmare, to Arnold and M. Ilene (Lindquist) Mickelsen. He was raised on the Mickelsen family farm and graduated from Kenmare High School. He then attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton for mechanics.
Gary moved back to Kenmare and worked as the meat manager in the Red Owl Store, and also helped out area farmers. Due to his declining health he moved into the Baptist Home of Kenmare, where he took an active role in activities. He later moved to Trinity Nursing Home in Minot, where the Lord called him home.
Gary enjoyed playing movies for the residents of the Baptist Home. He also enjoyed playing bingo, hunting and fishing. His greatest joy of his life was his children and granddaughters.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and M. Ilene Mickelsen.
Funeral: Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, 11 a.m., at Elmdale Lutheran Church, Niobe.
Visitation: Today, Jan. 24, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare.
Burial: Elmdale Lutheran Cemetery, Niobe, in the spring.
