SHERWOOD Dahlen George Krause, 80, Sherwood, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at a Minot hospital due to complications from a heart attack.

He was born July 6, 1932, near Sherwood, to Daniel and Nellie (Neubauer) Krause. He was raised in the Sherwood area and attended the Eden Valley School.

He was drafted into the Army in 1953 and served as a PFC with the B Company 35th Engineer Construction Battalion. He received the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in March of 1955 and returned to the Sherwood area to farm.

Dahlen met the love of his life, Inge Essl, while serving in Germany. They were married Jan. 3, 1957, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Mohall.

Dahlen was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood.

Family: wife of 56 years, Inge Krause, Sherwood; children, Sinderella "Sindy" (Gene Susa) Meadows, Bismarck, Pierre (Tammie) Krause, Sherwood, Jenifer Krause (Richard Miller), Grand Rapids, Mich., and Gwen (Russell) Stoltman, Argusville; grandchildren, Alisha (Ian) Dimit, Danielle (Nathan) Allen, Ashleigh (Alan) Walker, Jon-Erik Kinzley, Quentin Kinzley, Dylan Meadows, Alexis (Andrew) Beck, Cassandra (Aaron) Schneider, Sasha Krause, Ashley and Victoria Lesmann, Oliver, Greta, Jack Dahlen and Rex Stoltman; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Bernsdorf, Della Bechtold and Lila Marsden, all of Minot, Nancy (John) Wherley, Mohall; brother-in-law, Wayne McLain, Minot; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dahlen was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Marcus; sister, Delia McLain; and grandson, Edison Meadows.

Funeral: Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at 11:30 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood.

Spring Burial: Sherwood Union Cemetery, Sherwood.

Rosary: Today, Jan. 10, 2013, at 7 p.m., at the church.

Visitation: Today, 5 to 7 p.m., at the church.
