ND man sentenced for endangering boys with fire

January 3, 2013
Minot Daily News

FARGO(AP) - A North Dakota man accused of beating two boys and setting fire to their bedroom has been sentenced to nine years in prison.

Thirty-year-old Lyndon Greybear, of Fort Totten, said in court Wednesday he was hallucinating at the time of the incident in Fargo in November 2011 that involved his cousin's 4- and 6-year-old children. Both boys were seriously injured and hospitalized for a time.

Attorneys say Greybear was drunk and suffered a psychotic episode. They say he beat the children, urinated on them, grabbed them by the throat and threw them in a closet before setting afire the bedroom and the pants of one of the boys.

The Forum reports Greybear pleaded guilty last October to aggravated assault and endangering by fire. Prosecutors dropped attempted murder charges.
