Customers may feel like they're on the other side of the looking glass this month when they visit the student-run restaurant at Minot High School-Magic City Campus.
Restaurant Wonderland will have a theme from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It will be run by the Food and Nutrition Careers class at the school and will open on Jan. 16. Hours of operation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays through March 6, said junior Brianna Berglof.
Berglof said the restaurant will serve regular American-style foods such as hamburgers, salad and soup, with the chef's special, such as Chinese or Italian, on certain days. Nothing on the menu will be priced at more than $8, said Berglof.
The restaurant will seat about 40 people, said Berglof. Because seating is limited, people will need to make reservations beforehand. The restaurant is open to members of the public as well as to students and faculty at the school. People can make reservations by calling the Family and Consumer Science Department at 857-4543. Call the FACS department for more information about how far in advance to make reservations. Mary-Beth Gross is the teacher.
Berglof said the restaurant will also do take-out orders.
Berglof said the restaurant will be decorated in a Wonderland theme, with playing cards hanging from the ceiling and blown-up drawings of the characters from Lewis Carroll's classic novel: The Cheshire Cat, the March Hare, the Queen of Hearts, Alice in Wonderland and Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
