St. Therese, Church of the Little Flower Catholic Church, has announced a new agreement with Magic City Day Care Center. The day care center, owned and operated by Sarah and Erik Seay since 2007, will now be located in the lower level of the church's parish center building, which served as an elementary school before the Souris River flood damaged the building during the summer of 2011.
The Rev. Fred Harvey, pastor of St. Therese, Church of the Little Flower, has announced that the parish will continue to own and utilize parts of the parish center building while the entire lower level will be home to Magic City Day Care Center.
"This is an opportunity for Magic City Day Care Center to expand its current day care operations into a larger service for the community," Harvey said. "Today is a great day in this part of the city of Minot. This building that was formerly an elementary school is now once again about to reopen, better than it was before the flood, with thanks to Almighty God for having flood insurance and for the many people who have worked hard in rebuilding this property. This parish center building is no longer a part of the Catholic school system, but we, as a parish, believe that this building still needs to be of service to the greater Minot community."
Parish offices are presently located in the upper level of the building. In the future, space in the upper level may also be used as a Newman Center for students at Minot State University. Magic City Day Care Center will continue to be independently operated while utilizing the church's space.
"We, as a parish, believe that these endeavors are all very important missions that will serve the needs of the greater Minot community," Harvey said. "We are happy to support the new occupant of this building, hopefully for many years to come and welcome the sound of children once again."
