There has been continued discussion about the "fiscal cliff" and how this divided government is bad for our country. When the federal government was not divided and in the Democrat party's hands the only bill that was passed unilaterally by the Democrats was the Obamacare insurance program. "You need to pass the bill to find out what is in it!" Even the vacationer in chief now says that he has bigger fish to fry. A $4 million trip to Hawaii beats a visit to his crime-filled home city of Chicago.
I was happy that he would take some time from his busy schedule to visit Newtown to say a few words and to quote some Bible verse. He shouldn't be too worried though, there will be millions of those aborted angels in heaven to greet those beautiful children who were murdered by a deranged monster. I am thankful that our country would take a moment to pray to a higher power. When there is nowhere else to turn in our sadness and confusion we always turn back to God. When will the word of God be returned to our schools?
Unfortunately, "we have found the enemy, and the enemy is us!" We don't just have a divided government, we have a divided country. Everyone who may have voted for President Obama four years ago thought that he would create a healing process. Our country is now more divided than before the Civil War. We have divided states, blue and red. We have divided families when election officials would ask school children to enlighten their grandparents so they should vote for the democrats. The federal government is at war against the Catholic Church regarding abortion and mandated insurance programs. The only information the majority of Americans receive comes the vial drivel of reality shows, game shows, and Entertainment Tonight. As a teacher I would always protect my students, but who will protect us all from the hate brewing within our own selves and our country?
