Crane truck overturns on driver

FORTUNA - An accident Saturday afternoon near Fortuna involving a crane truck resulted in injuries to the driver.

A crane truck driven by Ace K. Aguilar, 37, of Mandan, was traveling north on 133rd Avenue Northwest at about 15 miles per hour to an oil site just northeast of Fortuna when its right tires went off the edge of the road. The crane truck rolled over into the ditch and Aguilar was ejected from the vehicle.

Aguilar was injured and transported to St. Lukes Hospital, in Crosby. He was cited for driving with a suspended license.

New Town resident injured in crash

BISMARCK - Two New Town residents were involved in a single vehicle crash just after 11 a.m. Monday.

While driving south on U.S. Highway 83, a 2000 Ford Explorer driven by Hayden Bott, 18, went out of control on the frosty, wet road 2 miles north of Bismarck. The vehicle then entered the median where it overturned, ejecting Bott. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Hayden Bott was taken to Stanford Health in Bismarck to be treated for his injuries. The passenger, Gibson Bott, 18, was uninjured.

California man busted for drugs in Minot

At about 3:45 a.m. Monday, police and a K9 unit responded to a tip that a vehicle in southeast Minot owned by Brian Pilipanko, 44, of California, was being used to store marijuana. The vehicle contained about three pounds of marijuana and about seven to 10 grams of methamphetamines, according to the Minot Police Department.

Police obtained a search warrant and searched the vehicle after being alerted by the dog that drugs were present.

Pilipanko was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia.

Power outage in Minot

Power was out for 287 northwest Minot residents early Monday afternoon due to a transformer explosion, an Xcel Energy representative said.

At 1:30 p.m. a caller to Central Dispatch at the Minot Police Department reported what he described as an explosion south of 24th Avenue Northwest. Xcel was contacted by police and workers were dispatched to the area to correct the problem.

U.S. Highway 2 closed to modify traffic signals

Westbound traffic on U.S. Highway 2 will be reduced to one lane Wednesday near the 55th Street East intersection to allow crews to modify the intersection signal standard for more vertical clearance.

The work in this intersection will be on the northbound and westbound intersection signals. Westbound traffic on Highway 2 will be reduced to one lane with no right turns from Highway 2 onto 55th Street.

All of the intersection signals at Highway 2 and 55th Street will be out of service while the work is being done. The work is expected to be completed within one day. Temporary signs and flaggers will be present while the work is being done and the driving public is encouraged to exercise caution throughout the construction zone to ensure their safety and the safety of the crews. Speeds will be reduced to 35 mph through the work zone.
