Rose Boehm, 95, Bismarck, formerly of Karlsruhe, peacefully passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at St. Vincent's Care Center in Bismarck.

Rose was born May 7, 1917, in Falsen Township, near Karlsruhe, the sixth of 12 children born to Frank and Eva (Wald) Boehm. At age 6 Rose was diagnosed with polio, leaving her with many challenges which she remarkably overcame throughout her life. She was raised on the family farm and was the salutatorian of the first graduating class of Karlsruhe High School in 1937. She later attended the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn.

Rose was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Karlsruhe as well as the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the church choir and community band. She served as a lector, taught CCD and was CCD principal for many years. While living in Minot she was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church.

During her time at St. Vincent's Care Center, Rose was an inspiring member of the community, immersing herself in nearly all activities. She served on the Resident Council, loved the residents and staff and was the recipient of abundant love in return.

Rose was a lifelong learner and took an avid interest in a wide variety of topics. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, quilting, knitting, crocheting, cooking, sewing, painting and woodcarving, always mastering everything she attempted. Family was a source of great joy for Rose. Many of her nieces and nephews considered her to be their second mother.

Throughout her life, everyone who met Rose received a shining example of how to take on adversity without complaint or self-pity, to fight every battle bravely with humility and to accept obstacles with grace and cheerfulness.

Rose is survived by: her sisters, Claire Boechler (Alphonse, deceased), Bismarck, Monica Krebsbach (Larry), San Jose, Calif.; brother, Frank, Columbia, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elizabeth Krim (Chris), Regina Ganje (George), Marie McNamara (John) and Anne Zerr (Leo); brothers, John (Bridget), Michael and Joseph Boehm; and an infant brother, Michael Boehm.

Funeral Mass: Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 10.30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe.

Burial: Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Karlsruhe.

Visitation and vigil prayer service: Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m., with the vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
