Minot High handles Central

GRAND FORKS - Morgen Martelle had a pair of goals and an assist to help Minot shut out Grand Forks Central 3-0 on Friday night.

The Magicians, who improved to 1-1 with the win, were also paced by goalie Breyden Effritz's 34 saves.

"(Effritz) was awesome again tonight," Minot coach Chad Burckhard said. "He made (Central) work so hard tonight and we were able to feed off of that."

Minot opens its home schedule tonight at 7 p.m. against Jamestown at Maysa Arena.

Beavers lose late lead, fall to Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio - Nick Rostek completed a hat trick with 49 seconds remaining to cap Ohio University's comeback over the Minot State University men's club hockey team.

The No. 4 Bobcats scored the game's final three goals to clip fifth-ranked MSU 6-5.

"This was a tough one tonight," MSU coach Wade Regier said in a press release. "We completely outplayed them until the very end. We have to learn when we have leads late that we have to put teams away and win."

The Beavers (11-4) outshot Ohio 28-23 and received goals from four different players. Sophomore forward Logan Herauf led MSU with two goals.

The Beavers and Bobcats play again tonight at 7:30.
