Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh III, left, and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James Roy talk with airmen at Dock 1 at Minot Air Force Base Wednesday, shown in this photo by Tech. Sgt. Aaron Allmon. Welsh made his first visit to Minot AFB since becoming the chief of staff. One of the main objectives of Welsh’s visit was to personally learn the story of Minot Air Force Base’s airmen and how they continually give their all for the strategic mission, even in the harshest of weather conditions and unforeseen hardships like last year’s historic Souris River flood, which displaced about 1,200 airmen and their families. Welsh and Roy, who visited the base Wednesday and Thursday, thanked airmen and their families for the sacrifices they endure, and congratulated the 5th Bomb Wing and 91st Missile Wing on its recent victories at this year’s third annual Global Strike Challenge.
