MSU eliminated from regional

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Southwestern Oklahoma State defeated Minot State University 3-0 Friday in the first round of the NCAA Central Region women's soccer tournament.

The fourth-seeded Bulldogs (20-0-1) got a goal from Paige Doherty in the 17th minute, added another one before halftime and kept MSU's offense in check.

The fifth-seeded Beavers (15-4-1) put just five shots on goal, including three by junior forward Jamie Council.

"Bottom line is that is an undefeated (team) and they created problems for us that we haven't seen all year," MSU coach Jason Spain said in a press release. "They dribble very well and are quick. That's a good team."

MSU senior goalkeeper Marie Torres finished with seven saves.

The Bulldogs advance to play top-seeded Central Missouri on Sunday.
