Dennis L. Hedberg, 69, of Billings, Mont., formerly of Carpio, passed away at his home in Billings on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2012, following a 10-month battle with cancer.
Dennis was born in Minot on Oct. 8, 1943, the oldest child of LeRoy and Helen Hedberg. He grew up on the family farm and ranch north of Carpio, working alongside his father, and brother.
Dennis married Barbara Heath, from Lansford, on Nov. 18, 1961. They had two children, Mitch and Michelle. Dennis worked the family farm for many years before leasing his share to his brother in 1994, upon which time he and Barbara moved to Minot, where he started as an over-the-road truck driver. He thoroughly loved driving truck, which he continued doing for the next 17 years. They moved to Billings in 2003, and he continued driving truck until failing health caused him to give it up in December 2011.
Dennis was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed people and always had time to share a smile with a stranger. He could talk to anybody, as though they were long lost friends. He was a hard worker, and provided a comfortable life for his family.
Dennis is survived by: his parents, LeRoy and Helen Hedberg, of Carpio; wife, Barbara, of Billings; son, Mitch (Becky) Hedberg, of Billings; daughter, Michelle (Brian) Ross, of Billings; grandchildren, Tanner and Travis Nation, Brayden and Sydney Ross; brother, Barry Hedberg, of Carpio; and sister, Diane (Kevin) Quisberg, of Becker, Minn.; as well as his nephews, Troy (Stacie and children) Hedberg, Travis (Leah and children) Hedberg, Angie (Shayne and children) Solem, and Blaine (Renae and children) Bloms, who were very special to him.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. at Carpio Lutheran Church, in Carpio.
