Kae Erickson, 73, Minot, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Kae Ilene Castleman was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Bantry, the daughter of C.O. and Lola (Thompson) Castleman. She was raised in Bantry and attended Bantry School until 1948 when they moved to Minot. Kae graduated from Minot Model High School in 1957.
Following her high school graduation, she attended Minot State College for a couple of years. She began her employment at Minot State College in 1958 and worked in various departments, including the Student Affairs Department, throughout the years. She retired from Minot State in December 2000, after working there for 34 years. During her employment she received the Board of Regents Staff Achievement Award. She was an avid MSU women's and men's basketball team fan as she and Boyd were adopt-a-student-athlete parents.
Kae married Boyd Erickson on Nov. 7, 1958, in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where they raised their three children.
Kae enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Pouch Point at Lake Sakakawea, canning, road trips to Montana or Minnesota, baking lefse for the Thanksgiving holiday and baking for the Christmas holiday. She was a grandmother that never said "no" to her grandchildren.
She attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Minot. She was a member of the MSU Beaver Booster Club and an active member of the Minot Model Alumni Association, especially with their reunions.
Those who shared in her life: husband of 53 years, Boyd, Minot; daughter, Bonnie (Brian) Freed, Minot, and their son, Tony (Kim Weismann) Freed, Williston; daughter, Helen (Richard) Walker, Minot, and their son, Ryan and Betsy Walker, both Minot; son, Kyle (Aleesha) Erickson, Minot, and their children, Brock and Carson Erickson, Minot; brother, Vance (Arlene) Castleman, Minot; sister-in-law, Gloria Castleman, Minot; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Kae was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Curtis Castleman.
Funeral: Monday, Nov. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday, from noon to 3 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
