Molla B. Romine, Minot
I have served as a Ward County Commissioner and currently represent the county on the Social Service Board. I have had the opportunity to participate in extensive studies of the infrastructure needs of our county government for the past 10 years.
I hear citizens expressing their concerns over safety as our population grows. Adequate jail facilities and law enforcement are a necessity.
All of us who travel Ward County roads are aware of the costly flood damage.
We are renting space for Ward County Social Services. Rental expense is paid from property taxes. If all the space needs are not met by the proposed county building project we will have to rent additional space paid for by property taxes.
The proposed one-half cent sales tax will be fair. All people accessing the services of the county will share in the cost of building and road repairs. That appeals to me as a retired property owner living on a fixed income.
I invite all voters to join me in saying yes to the sales tax proposal on our ballot this November.
