Ryan drops five-set match to M-L-S
KENMARE - The fourth-seeded Bishop Ryan volleyball team wasn't able to capitalize on the momentum of a fourth-set win and dropped a five-game match, 14-25, 25-21, 25-18, 19-25, 15-11 to No. 5 Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood on Friday in the first round of the Class B District 12 tournament.
Ryan implemented a new setter into its rotation in junior Maddie Lipp. Lions coach Patty Luetzen said Lipp did fine in her role but that the team has to adjust to the new lineup.
"Maddie is a good setter, but we're out of system," Luetzen said. "We have kept the same rotation the entire year."
Ryan plays Surrey at 4 p.m. Monday and must win two straight matches to advance to the regional tournament.
Our Redeemer's swept Surrey in a first-round match and plays M-L-S on Monday.
