Harriet Loraine "Happy" Johnson, 92, Oshkosh, Wis., formerly of Minot, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, in an Oshkosh, Wis., retirement center.
Harriet was born April 18, 1920, in Minneapolis, to Mahlon and Nettie (Dool) White. She was reared and educated in Minneapolis and graduated from West High School in 1937. Following her graduation from high school, she continued to live in Minneapolis. She married Robert H. Johnson on June 30, 1940, in Minneapolis and they continued to make their home there until moving to Grand Forks in 1953. In 1958, they moved to Minot where he managed a branch of Walman Optical and operated the business until his retirement. Robert died on Feb. 23, 1978. Following the death of her husband, Happy continued to make her home in Minot until moving to Oshkosh in 1992 to be nearer her children.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and a former member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church which merged to form Faith United Methodist Church. She was an avid painter and appreciated antiques.
Happy's loving family includes: her daughters, Patricia (Ken) Krippner, St. Louis, Mo., Julie Kirklin, Paris, Mo., Jill Johnson, Oshkosh; her sons, Tom (Sally) Johnson, Aurora, Ill., and Jim Johnson, Mayville; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Happy was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and sisters, Kathryn "Tot" Swenson and Mary Williams; brother, Bob White; and son-in-law, Don Kirklin.
A private graveside service was held at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, following a service in Oshkosh.
