For more than 30 years, we worked together to strengthen and protect Minot Air Force Base. By tirelessly advocating for the Base to members of Congress and administrations of both parties, we were able to make sure the Base had the resources it needed to carry out its important mission. We are supporting Heidi Heitkamp to be the next U.S. Senator from North Dakota for many reasons, but one of the most important among them is her steadfast commitment to Minot Air Force Base.
Both of us have worked closely with Heidi over the years. Her commitment to putting politics aside and fighting for North Dakota priorities is what we need in the Senate. With Heidi, it doesn't matter if it is an idea from a Republican or a Democrat. As long as North Dakota gets its fair shake, party label does not matter to her.
When it comes to Minot Air Force Base, she understands it is not about politics. She knows that it is about supporting the talented service members who work every day to keep our country safe. When Heidi gets to the Senate, she will work closely with Senator Hoeven and others to ensure that Minot Air Force Base thrives for years to come.
We have both been through many campaigns and know that this time of year, claims will be made that completely distort the truth. However, we know these distortions are not going to bring down Heidi Heitkamp. She and everyone who has met her know that in the U.S. Senate, she will fight every day for Minot Air Force Base.
