MSU hockey team suffers first loss
ADRIAN, Mich. - The No. 6 Adrian College men's club hockey team scored four second-period goals Friday en route to a 6-3 victory over No. 3 Minot State University.
Adrian's Senate Patton scored all three of his goals in the period to help the Bulldogs (8-1) hand MSU (6-1) its first loss.
"This was a tough one tonight," Beavers coach Wade Regier said in a press release. "We got into penalty trouble in the second period and it hurt us. They are a good team and we need to be ready to play a full 60 minutes."
MSU senior Donnie Iverson scored the game's lone first-period goal. Sophomore Mike Jordan and junior Josh Rutherford also scored for MSU.
The Beavers play at Oakland University (Mich.) at 9 tonight.

Beavers picked 15th by coaches
The Minot State University men's basketball team was chosen to finish 15th out of 16 teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference preseason coaches' poll.
The Beavers - who join the conference this season - were picked ahead of Minnesota, Crookston and just behind in-state rival University of Mary.
"It's not something that was a big surprise to us," MSU coach Matt Murken said. "There's teams in our league that have won a lot and accomplished a lot, so kind of being the new kids on the block, you've gotta earn your respect."
Five Minnesota schools took the top spots in the poll. Winona State garnered 10 first-place votes in taking the No. 1 ranking. Southwest Minnesota State, Minnesota State-Mankato, St. Cloud State and Minnesota State-Moorhead round out the top five.
MSU senior forward Josh Johnson was tabbed as a "player to watch" in the conference this season. The 6-foot-6 Johnson led the Beavers in scoring (15.8 ppg), steals (31) and blocked shots (23) in 2011-12.
