BRAINERD, Minn. - The Minot State University men's golf team shot 321 to finish fourth after the first round of the NSIC Fall Championship at The Classic at Madden's Golf Course on Monday.
Sophomore Kowan O'Keefe led the Beavers, shooting 78 to finish the day tied for seventh individually.
Junior Casey Gleich and senior Blair Anderson both cracked the top 25 with 80 and 81, respectively. Senior Michael DeLorme (82) and junior Cody Duchscherer (86) rounded out the scoring for the Beavers.
"We didn't play as well as we would like to play," MSU head coach Chipper Farrell said in a press release. "We lost eight shots on the 18th hole. We could have been a little more in the hunt. It was cold and rainy today and it is supposed to be colder tomorrow. We will have to try to close the gap a little more on the three ahead of us."
MSU trails third-place Augustana by four strokes and second-place Sioux Falls by six strokes. St. Cloud State shot 307 and leads the 12-team tournament after the first round.
Sioux Falls senior Jordan Mueller shot a 1-under 71 to lead by a stroke heading into round two.
The NSIC Fall Championship continues all day today.
