The Minot Minotauros won their first game of the season, defeating the Fresno Monsters 2-1 in a shootout.
Tied at two in the shootout, Minot forward Lucas Oliver beat Fresno goalie Tomas Sholl on his shot attempt for the victory.
Minot goalie Ryan Ruck stopped three of five shot attempts in the shootout and finished with 26 saves overall.
Minotauros forward Jake McCann gave Minot (1-6-1 overall) the lead at 9:43 of the first period with assists credited to Oliver and defenseman Jake Clifford.
Fresno (4-3-1) tied the game on a power-play goal by James Mathias at 6:35 of the second period.
Neither team scored in the third period or overtime.
The Minotauros host Aberdeen on Friday, Oct. 12.
