Aurora, Colo., is in the news with another senseless killing spree. Our president said we should all think about the victims of this crime. He said everyone around the world will think about these victims.
Yes, we should but let's also do something to stop horrendous things like this. First let's all pray for them and their families. Then we need to pray and bring God back into our lives, our homes, schools and government.
When did we stop putting our hopes, prayer and trust in God? Wasn't that about the time evil began spreading all over the country? We always knew God had blessed this country. Then we knew that we needed God in our lives, our homes, schools and government.
We've been told faith in God has nothing to do with our lives. They took the Ten Commandments out of our schools, then we weren't supposed to pray in any public places and now symbols of our faith in God are supposed to be offensive.
That's about the time evil came into our lives. It's spreading and multiplying like wildfire because evil begets more evil. The government leaders tell us to put our hope in them and they will make our lives better but the evil only gets worse.
We are like lost sheep with no shepherd to lead and protect us from the evil because we turned away from God's Word, the Bible.
So we watch TV programs and movies full of evil. The reality shows promote sexual activity, conniving and cheating to win money. The detective shows are full of killing and gore. The Internet brings pornography into our homes. We have become desensitized to the evil. The Bible tells us we do what we see. Thus evil begets more evil.
The government can't outlaw evil. Some of their laws only bring more evil. The only way we can stop it is to turn back to God's teachings in our Bible. It tells us there is both good and evil in this world. It also tells us our job is to choose the good because when we choose the evil it destroys us and our children.
So we need to shut off evil TV, movies and Internet. When the producers of this evil no longer profit from it they will stop.
The Bible shows us how love produces more love. Evil and hate produce more hate and subtracts love. We need to make the right choice.
