Drivers, it’s time to pay attention

August 5, 2012
Brandy Jacome Minot , Minot Daily News

This is probably the second letter I have written about this in the past six years. I am very disappointed in some of the drivers in the "Magic City." I have seen so many accidents, speeding, and individuals blowing through stops sign in my area it is ridiculous. Today I saw a dirt bike on a public street doing wheelies! My question to this person: What if one of the kids ran out in the street, you would not have time to stop?

It's not just the oil guys either, those of you who drive like this are at fault as well.

According to the Bismarck Tribune, mid Nov 2011 there were 125 people that died in car accidents. That was more than 2010. Why? My thoughts, people don't care anymore, with their "it's all about me" attitudes. They could care less who they hurt as long as they get where they are going.

I do understand that the Minot police and the Highway Patrol have a lot to handle. I also understand that they are understaffed. Therefore, it falls on you as a driver to be safe and pay attention to kids playing, stop signs, speed limits, and other road rules. Put the lead foot away, turn-off the cell phones, turn down radio, and pay attention.
