Representing North Dakota?

July 1, 2012
Minot Daily News

Clifford A Weixel, Jamestown

"It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit." President Harry S. Truman.

I was surprised to learn that Obamacare consists mainly of a Republican plan proposed in response to the plan put forward by then first lady Hillary Clinton during her husband's administration. Because it was later put forth by Democrats, instead of the original Republicans, it is a terrible idea and Rick Berg promises to repeal it. This in spite of the latest news that insurance companies plan on continuing parts included in the program because they are popular, even if the Supreme Court goes against it.

Berg is not able to be bipartisan, in the North Dakota way he says he supports, as he is pledged to Norquist instead of the North Dakota voters who put him in office. When I asked Berg why he needed to pledge to Norquist, he spun it saying it was a pledge to me, not Norquist. Never did I request Berg to sign the Norquist Pledge.

I feel Berg has shown his hand in the time he has been a Norquist Congressman and does not need to be our Norquist senator. We need a senator representing us.
