Be part of the process

June 12, 2012
Minot Daily News

Today's election is an important day in local and staewide politics. We encourage eligible voters to be part of the process.

Today's vote will go a long way toward shaping a number of local boards. Seats are up for grabs on area school boards, the Minot Park Board, the Ward County Commission and the Minot City Council. The candidates running for Ward County commissioner will all advance to the general election in November, but for the city council and school board candidates, today's the day when their fate will be decided by voters.

There are also other items on the ballot, including local legislative races and four statewide measures with real and serious effects and consequences.

The point is, there are issues and races important to the future of Minot, Ward County and the state on the ballot today. We encourage eligible voters to take a few minutes out of their busy schedule today to vote in their precinct. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Minot. The political system works only if the voters get involved, especially on the local level. County commissioners, city councilmen, school board members and area politicians all make important decisions that affect us right here at home.

Today is the chance for voters to let their voices be heard. We encourage residents to participate.
