MSU softball team splits two games
ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Minot State softball team split a pair of neutral-site games Friday at the RCTC Dome in Rochester.
The Beavers scored two runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth in the day's first game to complete a 7-6 win over Wisconsin-Parkside. Senior Tiffany Friesen came on in relief and picked up the win.
The Beavers (3-4) fell in the second game to No. 23 Winona State (Minn.) 4-2. The Warriors scored one run in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to take the win.
MSU sophomore Jen Dixon led the Beavers' offense with four hits on the day.

Schmitt lifts Bismarck past Minot
Bismarck's Bryce Schmitt, a Minot native, scored one of his team's three goals in the first period and added an assist in a two-goal second as the Bobcats downed the Minot Minotauros 5-2 in NAHL Central Division action Friday at Maysa Arena.
Minot's goals came from Austin Hoff in the first and Carl Krieger in the third.
Tim Shaughnessy and Jake Hebda shared time in net for Minot, each logging 19 saves.
