MOHALL Cecelia May Veikley, 90, Minot, formerly of Mohall, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at a Minot hospital.

She was born June 25, 1921, near Martinsburg, Neb., a daughter of Robert and Josephine (Book) Wright. Cecelia moved with her family to Minot, and later to a farm in Lockwood Township, Renville County, near Grano. She attended the Lockwood Township School.

Cecelia married Norval Veikley on June 7, 1941, in Mohall. They resided in Mohall, where she worked as a seamstress, cleaned houses and assisted area farm wives. She later assisted her husband in the family business as the secretary for the Renville Abstract Co. Norval died in 2002. Cecelia continued living in Mohall until moving to The View in Minot in July 2007.

Cecelia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall, and the Zion Lutheran Church Women, a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and served as a volunteer with the Ground Observer Corps as an aircraft spotter. A self-taught guitar and harmonica player, she played them simultaneously in the manner of Bob Dylan. She will be remembered as a person who always did her job and added a little humor to the moment.

Family: sons, Steven (Janice) Veikley, and Laurence (Suki) Veikley; daughter-in-law, Avis Veikley, all of Minot; grandchildren, Lt. Col. Amber Kasbeer, serving in Afghanistan, Cindy (Robert) Johns, Westerville, Ohio, Aaron Veikley and Andrew Veikley, both of Grove City, Ohio, and Mira Veikley, Manhattan, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Madison Johns, Alexander Veikley and Aleca Veikley, all in Ohio; sisters, Bernadine (Hugh) Heily, Minot, Helen Klatt, Rugby, and Estelle (Al) Lundgren, Dickinson.

Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norval; son, Dennis Veikley; and brothers, Tharley, Byron and Ronald Wright.

Funeral: Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Visitation: Today, Feb. 23, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall.

Memorials: Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.
