Artists to make presentations

The Northwest Art Center will host two visiting artists today, as it opens two spring semester exhibits with a public reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Hartnett Hall Gallery at Minot State University.

Michael Barnes, associate professor of art in printmaking at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Ill., will present a gallery talk at 7 p.m. at the Hartnett Hall gallery. Barnes served as juror for the "Americas 2012: Paperworks" exhibit on display through Feb. 22. Barnes will discuss his selections for the exhibit and will present Merit and Best of Show awards.

American Indian artist Lauren "Good Day Woman" Giago will be the guest speaker for "Women in the Visual Arts" class at 3:30 p.m. Hartnett Hall Room 329. Giago's paintings are featured at the Gordon B. Olson Library Gallery through Feb. 8. She will also attend today's reception.

Both talks and the reception are free and open to the public.
