Minot Realtors support Salvation Army Christmas drive

December 23, 2011
By DAILY NEWS STAFF , Minot Daily News

Members and Affiliate members of the Minot Board of Realtors raised a record $13,510.37 for the Salvation Army at its annual 2011 Christmas social held at the Grand International. Realtor offices and member contributions totaled $1,740. Members volunteered bell ringing services for the day which accounted for $3,984.37. The remaining $7,786 was raised through silent and live auction proceeds at the annual event.

Realtor auctioneer Milt Korslien auctioned off items donated by Realtor and Affiliate member offices and contributions from local area businesses. In the past nine years, the Minot Realtor and Affiliate Christmas social has raised $68,974.92 for the Minot Salvation Army.

Following Minot's successful nine-year format, the North Dakota Association of Realtors last year adopted a Realtor Ring Day where Realtors from across the state manned the Salvation Army kettles at all locations for one day. Following the success of the statewide effort, nine states joined the proclaimed Realtor Ring Day this year and we anticipate the National Association of realtors adopting the program nationwide in the future. N.D. Realtors accounted for $60,131.92 in bell ringing proceeds in 2011.
