BRIEFS - ‘Peace on Earth’ concert scheduled

The Western Plains Children's Choirs will present a concert titled "Peace On Earth" on Sunday at 7 p.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall at Minot State University.

The concert will feature children's voices singing the music of a variety of styles and cultures. The Western Plains Junior Choir, the Western Plains Children's Choir, and the Western Plains Youth Ensemble will each share individual performances as well as coming together for the concert opener with "Dona Nobis Pacem" and closer, "Peace, Peace."

College students Jonathan Clark, Erin Neumann and Alyssa Beyer will be featured conducting the choirs in singing musical selections they have taught to the singers.

The concert is free and open to the public. A freewill donation will benefit the Salvation Army.

Singers sought to join Chorale

The Minot Chamber Chorale is seeking singers for the upcoming season.

The chorale is the only mixed community chorus in Minot, and will be performing the Saint Cecilia Mass on Feb. 26 as well as a Chorale Showcase & Ice Cream Social on April 29.

Jazz ensemble to present concert

The Minot State University Jazz Ensemble will present its final concert of the semester today at 7:30 p.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall featuring music by Radiohead, Pat Metheny and Woody Herman's Thundering Herd. Also, such familiar tunes as Hagen's "Harlem Nocturne" and "New York, New York" will be featured as well.

The MSU Jazz Ensemble is directed by Adam Estes. MSU students Tim Olson and Rachel Harvey will be two of the featured soloists.

The event is free and open to the public.

Christmas event set at State Fairgrounds

"The Reason," a family Christmas experience, is coming to the N.D. State Fairgrounds Tuesday at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Featuring such artists and speakers as Sara Groves, Leeland, Dave Lubben and Nick Hall, "The Reason" is a multimedia Christmas event for the whole family presented by PULSE.
