WILLISTON Gene Putnam of Minot presents the Second Sunday concert on stage at the James Memorial Arts Center in Williston.
The performance, set for 1:30 p.m. Dec. 11, is a celebration of the holiday season.
Putnam was born and raised in North Dakota. He was introduced at an early age to the fingerstyle guitar music of Chet Atkins. He began playing in grade school and later in his teens progressed to fingerstyle guitar.

Putnam's personal style has evolved into easy-listening fingerstyle played on acoustic, electric steel string and nylon string guitars. He plays a variety of music including country, popular standards, classic rock, movie themes and gospel.
A fee of $5 covers the entertainment as well as a dessert served with coffee or tea at intermission.

Combined choirs to perform in Crosby, Estevan
CROSBY The Northwest Chorus comes together with Saskatchewan Southeast Chorus in two concerts for the groups' 41st annual Celebration of Christmas Music, this year titled "Alleluia, Christ is Born."
The group practices in Crosby from September through December, and then has two concerts, one in Estevan, Sask., and the other in Crosby.
The events are planned for Trinity Lutheran in Estevan, Sask., Saturday at 7 p.m., and at Concordia Lutheran in Crosby Sunday at 4 p.m. There will be a no-host buffet available at Mr. K's after the Crosby concert.
Directors of the choirs, Ed Retzer and Harlan Johnson, are both from Crosby.
Tickets are $3 for grades one through eight, $5 for high school and adults, and there's a family ticket for immediate family available for $15.

Minot State to present concerts
The Minot State University Division of Music has planned two music events next week that are free and open to the public.
The first is a Christmas band concert Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall. The concert will feature a flute ensemble, clarinet ensemble, trumpet ensemble, trombone ensemble and percussion ensemble, in addition to classic Christmas music by the Concert Band.
Then on Tuesday, the Division of Music presents a seasonal choir concert at 7:30 p.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall. The concert will feature the MSU Concert Choir, the MSU Women's Chorus and the MSU Singers.
