N.D. Tourism announces winning photos

Mandy Moore of Minot submitted the winning photo in the scenery category of the 2011 North Dakota Governor's Photo Contest.

Moore's "Frosted Beauty" photograph captured the Stave Church in the snow at the Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot.

Seven winning photos and five honorable mentions were recently selected in the contest. Winning photographers will receive a $200 cash prize for each winning photo and have their works featured in North Dakota Tourism's marketing materials, along with exposure through contest partner AAA. Honorable mention winners will receive North Dakota merchandise and may have their images featured in tourism marketing materials.

N.D. Tourism - - Mandy Moore of Minot’s “Frosted Beauty” won in the scenery category in the 2011 N.D. Governor’s Photo Contest.

A photo of wild horses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, taken by Jen MacLeod, Grand Forks, was named Best of Show. MacLeod received an additional $300 cash prize and a free, one-year basic membership to AAA.

More than 660 photos were judged on originality, subject matter, visual appeal and ability to portray North Dakota as a legendary travel destination in the categories of events, attractions, people, scenery, wildlife, and outdoor adventure. Next year's contest will begin in May 2012.
