INDIANAPOLIS Minot State University senior music student Justin Goetz has been selected to perform at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis in November as a member of the 50th Anniversary Percussive Arts Society Marimba Orchestra.
Goetz is one of 50 outstanding college marimbists who were selected by audition to make up the orchestra. Goetz submitted a video audition of required repertoire for evaluation by a panel of judges.
Percussion Arts Society is a music service organization promoting percussion education, research, performance and appreciation, with more than 8,500 members in 78 chapters worldwide. Their annual convention is the largest percussion event of its kind in the world, featuring concerts, clinics, master classes, workshops and commercial exhibits.
Goetz is pursuing a degree in music education. As a student performer he has appeared as featured soloist with the Minot Symphony Orchestra, MSU Concert Band, MSU Marching Band, and Minot City Band. In addition to serving in the percussion sections of those groups, he performs regularly with the MSU Percussion Ensemble, MSU Marimba Ensemble, and MSU Jazz Ensemble.
